« A few weeks ago, Billy shared with me the mindset, world and emotions he wavis experiencing in 1993 while he was creating the legendary Siamese Dream album. What I heard and felt is the dichotomy between ground and space, between the rough earthy underground of a dark reality, and the free purple light spilling out of the open universe of his imagination. I wanted to express the creative tension between Billy’s Mais Street neighborhood where the music studio was, and the escape into his own creativity. « Atmospherically, we lived in a dingy environment - a dirty rehearsal space which was in a parking garage and smelled like oil, gasoline, and tires. The only thing that I can remember romantically would be girls with Aqua Net hairspray because all the goths used Aqua Net hairspray, including myself. Of course, the goth girls smoked clove cigarettes, and people would use cheap perfume. A lot of the goths wore patchouli. »
