OAKMOSS / CARROT

On our last road trip, we set out without a destination — driving through wide open landscapes, following instinct, guided only by the light.

Before leaving, we chose two creative anchors to guide the journey — a song we had composed beforehand, called Sparkle, available on every music platform under Lola James Harper, and a scent from our candle collection, Red Gardenthe smell of dry earth just after it receives water.
That extraordinary moment when soil awakens, exhales, and reveals its depth.

These two — the sound of Sparkle and the scent of Red Garden — were already part of our world, and became the triggers for this project.
They were with us from the beginning, shaping how we looked, listened, and moved through the landscape.

As we drove, whenever Lili Mekdachi — co-founder of Lola James Harper, photographer and dancer — felt that a place was inspiring her, we stopped the car.
She opened the trunk, chose an outfit from the vintage clothes she had collected in flea markets along the way, and began to resonate with the place — its light, its stillness, its air — until it called her into movement.

There, in silence or wind, surrounded by land and scent, she began to dance.

Her movements are a response to the environment — a dialogue with nature, light, texture, and scent.

Each dance is improvised.
The choice of clothing, the gestures, the rhythm — all emerge in resonance with the place.

From this experience, we want to share with you :

• The Short Film — The Land Dance
Directed and performed by Lili Mekdachi —
an art film capturing those moments when body and land merge.

• The Photography Collection
Frames of stillness and movement,
capturing Lili in dialogue with the places that chose her.

• The Candle — Red Garden
A deep and earthy scent — red dust, sun-baked soil, and vast skies.
The smell of dry earth and freedom.
(Already part of the Lola James Harper collection before the trip.)

• The Song — Sparkle
Available on every music platform under Lola James Harper.
A sonic space to breathe, to move, to feel.
(Composed before the journey, as the musical heart of the project.)

As always at Lola James Harper, our art is born from encounter
A place that inspires us to pause.
A scent that brings memory to life.
A song that lets the moment linger.
A photograph that holds time.
A dance that becomes the land itself.

This is The Land Dance.

An ever-growing ritual of presence, creation, and connection.
